European Marathon Classics Unlocks Marathon History Today
European Marathon Classics (EMC) today takes another major step in building the future of marathon running by launching its historical results verification system. The new initiative brings the past into the present, allowing runners worldwide to add their previous finishes from eight iconic European marathons to their EMC journey.
The initiative reflects the belief at the heart of European Marathon Classics: every marathon counts, every finish matters and every runner’s journey deserves recognition. By connecting decades of marathon achievements with today’s running community, EMC enables athletes to preserve their results, collect digital e-coins for verified finishes and continue their path towards becoming a European Marathon Classics Finisher.
The verification system applies to all eight EMC member races: Run Rome The Marathon, Vienna City Marathon, Zurich Rock 'n' Roll Madrid Marathon, TCS London Marathon, Copenhagen Marathon, Warsaw Marathon, EDP Lisbon Marathon and Mainova Frankfurt Marathon.
The feature was first announced during the official European Marathon Classics launch in Vienna in February 2026. Today, through a strategic partnership with LetsDoThis, this vision becomes a reality.
“Launching historical results verification is a major milestone for European Marathon Classics. We are connecting decades of marathon history with today’s runners, giving them the opportunity to bring their past achievements into an active, living journey,” said Kathrin Widu, CEO of the Vienna City Marathon.
Most importantly, verified historical finishes count towards the European Marathon Classics challenge. Runners who complete five different EMC marathons earn the title of European Marathon Classics Finisher and receive a commemorative medal featuring collectible magnetic coins representing each city.

A simple and free verification process
The service is available to all runners free of charge. Existing EMC members can immediately search for their past finishes, while runners who have not yet joined European Marathon Classics can quickly create a free account at www.europeanmarathonclassics.eu and become part of a growing global community that already includes more than 15,000 runners from 126 countries worldwide.
The verification process is simple:
1. Log in to your account at www.europeanmarathonclassics.eu
2. Go to “My Journey” and select “Results”
3. Click “Find Results”
4. Select:
– one of the eight EMC marathons
– the year of participation
5. Click “Search for my results”
The system scans the database and displays matching records. Once a result is found and automatically verified, it is added to the runner’s profile and a corresponding digital e-coin is generated.
If a result cannot be found, runners can:
- check whether their profile name matches the name used during race registration
- add an alternative name if applicable
- submit an individual result request for further verification
Due to the long history of EMC races, complete archives are not available for every year. Race organisations and data systems have changed over time, and some historical records cannot be fully recovered.
The database will continue to expand over time as additional historical performances are verified.
Not every result is available immediately
The first phase includes all results currently available in the EMC database. Additional performances will be added progressively through verification requests submitted by runners.
Runners are encouraged to follow European Marathon Classics’ official social media channels for further updates and announcements regarding the next phases of the historical results verification process.
Completing the challenge and receiving the medal
Each verified historical finish generates a digital e-coin in the runner’s EMC profile and brings them closer to completing the European Marathon Classics challenge. Once a runner completes five different EMC marathons, including verified historical results, they become an official European Marathon Classics Finisher.
The EMC medal is awarded in person and is not delivered by mail. Finishers are invited to collect it at an official race expo or at the finish line of any EMC race.

“We believe that achievements like this deserve a real finish line moment. That’s why we invite runners to collect their medal in person – to celebrate together, face to face, exactly where marathon emotions are at their strongest,” said David Rumbao, the CMO of the Zurich Rock’n’Roll Madrid Marathon.
The first medals will be awarded during the 48th Warsaw Marathon on 27 September 2026, followed by EDP Lisbon Marathon (10 October) and Mainova Frankfurt Marathon (25 October).
