Ballot for the 2027 TCS London Marathon is now open
The ballot for the 2027 edition of the TCS London Marathon, part of the European Marathon Classics, is now officially open.
Runners from around the world can enter the ballot from 09:00 (British Summer Time) on Friday 24 April until 16:00 on Friday 1 May. The event itself will take place on Sunday 25 April 2027.
As in previous years, entries will be allocated through a completely random draw, ensuring equal opportunity for all applicants. The system operates similarly to the National Lottery, with results expected to be announced by early July.
Exploring a one-off two-day marathon format
Together with partners and stakeholders, organisers are exploring the possibility of staging the 2027 TCS London Marathon across two days as a one-off initiative.
If approved, all ballot entrants would automatically be included in draws for both a Saturday and Sunday race (while ultimately participating in only one). This would significantly increase participants’ chances of securing a place, while preserving the event’s unique atmosphere and operational excellence.
“The TCS London Marathon is one of the most iconic and inclusive sporting events in the world and anyone can be part of it. Everyday heroes can stand shoulder to shoulder on the same Start Line as the fastest marathon runners on the planet, cheered on by hundreds of thousands of spectators lining the streets of London. It is a day like no other when humanity comes together with community, unity and purpose. Entering the 2027 TCS London Marathon ballot could be the first step towards becoming part of something truly life changing”, say Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Event.
